We Can Do Anything

We Can Do Anything presents an imagined aquatic environment in which recognizable creatures, invented forms, and fragments of human culture coexist.

Built through layers of cobalt, turquoise, green, and black, the composition moves between figuration and abstraction. Fish and gestural marks intersect with architectural imagery taken from a vintage art book, including a small ONE WAY street sign—a subtle intrusion of human order into an otherwise unregulated world.

Nantucket beach sand is incorporated directly into the painted surface, introducing a material connection to place. The ornate vintage carved frame establishes a further tension between historical convention and contemporary expression.

Through these juxtapositions, Fudge explores the relationship between individuality, belonging, and the structures through which we understand the world.
