The Portal We Refuse to See

A fragment of a vintage painting and a circular mirror occupy a weathered tin frame. The juxtaposition of painted image and reflective surface brings two ways of seeing into a single object: one fixed in the past, the other changing with the viewer.

A handwritten passage on the reverse, beginning “A song cut from the gold of evening,” introduces another layer to the work’s consideration of memory and time.
